Universal movies to move to Peacock streaming service on quicker timeline

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Comcast Corp’s Universal Pictures will ship new movies solely to the company’s Peacock streaming service no later than 4 months after they debut in theaters, the company talked about on Tuesday.
Universal movies at current go to AT&T Inc’s HBO TV channel and the HBO Max streaming service about six months after they hit cinemas.
The new affiliation begins in 2022 and may embody movies from Universal, animation studios DreamWorks Animation and Illumination, and arthouse division Focus Features. Financial phrases weren’t disclosed.
Upcoming titles embody “Jurassic World: Dominion,” a model new movie from “Get Out” filmmaker Jordan Peele, and modern installments throughout the animated “Minions” and “Puss in Boots” franchises, a company assertion talked about.
