Japanese town deploys ‘Monster Wolf’ robots to deter wild bears

TOKYO (Reuters) – A Japanese town has deployed robotic wolves in an effort to scare away bears which have flip into an increasingly dangerous nuisance throughout the countryside.
The town of Takikawa on the northern island of Hokkaido purchased and put in a pair of the robots after bears have been found roaming neighbourhoods in September. City officers talked about there have been no bear encounters since.
Bear sightings are at a five-year extreme, principally in rural areas in western and northern Japan, nationwide broadcaster NHK has reported. There have been dozens of assaults to this level in 2020, two of them lethal, prompting the federal authorities to convene an emergency meeting remaining month to deal with the menace they pose.
